Description
The Fōra stone (pronounced FOH-ra) is a powerful rune stone, marked with a delicate leaf sigil that glows when held by a Forest Keeper. The magical stone serves as both a gateway and a source of power for creatures tasked with healing and nurturing the forest. The stone is often found nestled at the roots of ancient trees and appears only to those who are Forest Keepers.
Lore
The Fōra stone is said to have been shaped from a fragment of the ancient Heartwood tree, the first and oldest tree in Aldernwood, which stands hidden at the heart of the forest. When the forest faced its first great calamity, the tree shed a single leaf that fell to the earth and transformed into the Fōra stone. The tree imbued it with its life force and it shone so brightly that every tree in the forest bloomed at once, creating a wave of healing energy that restored balance.
Legend tells us the great Forest Keeper Fenmaris Oona was first to find the stone and so it has become a vital rune for the Forest Keepers’ continued connection to the forest’s soul. It is said that the stone’s power grows in tune with the Keeper’s heart; a pure and selfless Keeper can unlock its full potential. The stone is believed to be indestructible, its power fading only if Aldernwood itself falls into ruin. However, some stories suggest that should a Keeper ever misuse the stone’s power, the leaf engraving will break, leaving the stone barren and powerless.
